The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) currently funds eight local public health agencies as Advanced Practice Centers (APCs). Building best practices, APCs combine forces to help LPHAs prepare for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies.
What APCs Do
APCs seek to advance public health preparedness through innovation by:
- Developing advanced tools and resources to share with LPHAs
- Sharing lessons learned through their own preparedness efforts
- Serving as model demonstration and training sites.

Tarrant County APC
Since January 2004, the Tarrant County APC has focused on disease detection and investigation, workforce development and training, and emergency preparedness and readiness assessment. You can learn more about the Southwest Center for Advanced Public Health Practice.
